The man who having an interview with Johnny Depp is a comedian and he was trying to ask him some treasured things to hold a charity auction for the Tohoku great earthquake. As you see, Johnny Depp gave him two rings, signed poster, and かいぞく( ka-i-zo-ku, means “pirate” ) calligraphy. The comedian seemed pushy and stupid, but I love him asking Johnny to write “ka-i-zo-ku” letters. It made me laugh hard!! Johnny said ” Is it like a little kid?” , yes, my daughter can write much better, BUT absolutely he’s so lovely !
The another funny point is Johnny was given “hagoita” and “a boy doll with kabuto” . These two things are very traditional decorations for celebrating children’s birth or praying for good health. I hate to say but they are a bit outdated. Grandparents used to give these things to their grandchildren as big and noble as possible but anymore in these days. If you brought “hagoita” or “kabuto” to your friend for her/his kid’s birthday present, your friend might take it as a joke.
Anyway, do you wanna know how much did his gifts get? It’s JPY4,210,000-. I think it’s crasy but it’s a wonderful idea to raise the money so quickly!
