Every morning on my way taking Momo to her school, I hear the music from somewhere. The music of The radio gymnastics. Have you ever heard of it or done actually? Here is the description of it from Wiki.
It became popular in Japan just after World War II and is still used among students and workers in companies to help raise morale and form group unity. The exercises reflect the general role of exercise in Japanese culture: to serve as a symbol of unity and cooperation among the Japanese, as well as to raise energy levels and encourage good health. The purpose of the exercises is not to encourage students to become athletes but to push themselves and develop unity with their classmates.
In fact, I did it through my students age(not in college) and also in the office where I was working. Even though I wasn’t taken in charge of physical but desk work, I had to do it every morning with all co-workers. At first, I felt weird but then stopped thinking about it. Nobody can say no to these old conservative ritual kind of things. It’s very usual in the manufacture companies like car makers, contruction or food companies. It’s wierd but I think it’s the only and the last culture that you can have irrespective of age and sex.
However, Tatsu doesn’t know it. I think he has never done it before in his life. Now, the school has a more pop and enjoyable exercise for them. The radio exercise is going extinct!
I don’t wanna do it again, but at the same time, I’m confident about doing it anywhere and anytime by heart even without the music!
