Tatsu looks 'dangerously handsome'?? Hahaha! まさか! I want him to be more tough. Do you know Sakana-kun? I imagine Tatsu would become to look like him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdJRY8Mv0kU&feature=player_embedded
I was surprised at finding him on the BBC TV program!

You sent me something related with my dagerouls hero? Oh my! I can't wait! I'll go to the post office to check if it's arrived!

Tesha,
I found this video in Youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTLhU2rI130
I think it's a little bit different from my style, but mostly it looks basic recipe. (I was worrying about the poodle while I was watching that video. The dog seemed to be too close to the fire!)
Anyway, I wonder it's difficult to get the ingredients in your country. If you want, I could send you kelp or bonito flakes.

I also wanted to comment about how mature the kids are looking! Wow! Momo must be the most beautiful girl at school.

Like my nephew Briceton, Tatsu is begining to look dangerously handsome.
Mmmmmm... Now that I'm thinking about it... 'Dangerously handsome' sounds like another guy you love. Name starts with J....
Speaking of which, there's a Johnny-related suprise for you in the bottom of one of the boxes I mailed to you. Wait a few more days! It's mostly cooking ingredents for everything from pumpkin pie to pasta. I wasn't sure if I could some of them easily and cheaply.

Wanna roast a turkey with me? All the spices and werid equpment are in the box. Hopefully, we can buy a turkey at Costco. It's not like Kentucky... I can't just hunt a wild one! I guess if its completely impossible, a goose or chicken would be ok.

A day out with girl friends! It is good that you got to spend time with your female friend. I commend husbands who let their wives go out from time to time without them or the kids. I love hanging out with my married girl friends because they teach me a lot about how to make relationships work, and their stories about their children are really interesting! Some of the children are my godchildren (which reminds me that I still have to get them Christmas presents haha!)

I have yet to see Public Enemies, but I like both Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. I will watch it on DVD among other films over the Christmas break. Oh, I have seen posters of Alice in Wonderland in cinemas already!

> The mothers in my generation have been raised to believe that women could do anything as good as men, but in my opinion, men have not been raised as the same.

I would defiantly agree. The thoughts of woman have changed, but the men are still catching up.

Andrew is hopeless when it comes to most domestic things. I've given up! Too many broken drinking glass, ruined laundry, and messes made from him trying his best to be helpful.
His heart is golden, but.... He just wasn't brought up doing those things. His mom took care of every little thing! Before the age of 20, I’m sure he never gave a thought to how the dishes got washes everyday and how there is always clean clothing for him to wear.
I try to gently guide him...
Like if he just strips off his socks and leave them in the floor. I'll stand near them and ask (to Anna Belle), "Where do these socks go? Do you know? Mama doesn’t know.” It's like someone hit him over the head! He'll sheepish grin and get them to put with the dirty laundry.
Being gentle and indirect is much better than getting frustrated. He’s learning.

As Tsukareru mentioned, the men would take part in house work including raising kids with their consent much more easily because of the economic reason. If their wives earn money as much as them, it's simple and natural to share the house work evenly. It becomes harder and harder to sustain household only by husband's gain in Japan these days. So, the career moms will increase much more. The mothers in my generation have been raised to believe that women could do anything as good as men, but in my opinion, men have not been raised as the same. Because their mothers had behaved as typical Japanese women that were very modest and dependent on their husbands.
So, my son's generation would be changed more drastically by women in my age I guess. Yes! I, myself have trained Tastu to be a perfect housekeeper! As AZ says, Times keep changing slowly but steady.

Japanese fathers are not the only ones to shirk diaper duty, my Mexican father had well defined roles for men and women, and diaper duty was a woman's job. Of course when it came to men's roles the lines got a little foggy, my mother worked side-by-side with him when there was work to be done around the house, but he did take on all mechanical duties like working on automobiles. Of course my parents were very typical of families of the late 40s, men we the bread winners and women were the homemakers and the one responsible for raising children. Today‘s fathers are much more involved in raising their children, my husband‘s son from his first marriage, is the bread winner, the one who prepares the meals, and he also is responsible for all the laundry for himself his wife, and their three children. Times have really changed!
