Tsukareru came from US had left in the early morning yesterday. She had been with us for three weeks. I had talked about various things. I had wanted to write about them here each time, but days had spent so fast.
At first, I had not used English all day long before, so honestly, it’s tough. I didn’t have extra power to ‘write’ English even though I checked my blog! Tsukareru had been patient and a good guesser to my words, otherwise I could not learn so many things about US.
We were talking about just daily lives of ours. However there are a lot of historical culture gaps underneath. I would say the difference of our two culture is the history of isolated country and the history of immigrants.
Because many things which I felt very American have their roots in that history of immigrants and the reason I felt why is I am Japanese and I don’t suppose to live with other cultures.
I think I would not live in a foreign country in the future because my life has almost fixed. However, as long as I live in this global internet space, these experiences with her might be SO important and precious, I believe.
Thank you, AD. You must be sleeping like a log now. Tatsu plays Mario and sometimes talks to himself “A desu. A desu.” as you taught him! Momo is wondering if your cat is genki. Thank you again for everything!
This is a wonderful post!
I am sure that your guest had a wonderful time. My daughter was an exchange student near Nagoya last year, and it meant a lot to her. Her host families were kind, and helped her learn a lot of Japanese. I think that it helped her host brothers and sisters imagine a larger world as well.
Thank you for writing!
What is A desu?
Hi Mary,
I imagine your daughter must have a lot of memories of Japan and those would help her in her future.
‘A desu’ means ‘Press A button.’ that Tsukareru said to my son with playing a video game!
Thank you for stopping by, and see you again!
Thank you!
It was so embrassing to show my sweaty face to everyone who came to meet me in Nashville.
I miss you and the kids so much! I really love them now, just like another nephew and niece. Ok, I even miss debating with your Jiro.
I gave up on stay awake normally! So I slept from 6pm until 2am then 4am until 7am. You’re right, like a log… The jet lag will go away in a few more days.
Should I email you the link for the Paper Mario game guide. It’s in English, so perhaps he would pester you to much?!
Anna Belle is very well, but so clingy right now! She’s been following me everywhere, even to the toilet! She also kept checking me breathing while I was asleep. The touch of her whiskers kept waking me, so I locked her out of my bedroom. Then, she me meowed and cried until I let her inside again.
Right now, she lounging on my stomach, purring with her eyes closed like she’s a chanting monk!
I have school and work Monday! Too quick! I’m so used to my pace these days… I don’t want to bend to others!
>Should I email you the link for the Paper Mario game guide. It’s in English, so perhaps he would pester you to much?!
Haha, maybe. I would let them play by themselves, thank you!
You must be tired in school today. The normal daily live has become again, but I think both of us have something new in our mind.
Isnt it wonderful to meet someone that you made friends with for so long through the internet, exchanging emails and snail mails..finally you meet them for real. I know that feeling and I will never forget when I met a friend whom I look up to like a sister, the same goes from her for me. I had the pleasure of meeting her twice in a span of two years that time and also to have her and her son stay with me for almost a week.
Hi tima!
I’m so sorry that i couldn’t email for a while.
I did cooked your curry and fried rice yesterday.
The fried rice was so yummy. However, curry was a bid bitter. I guess the simmering time was too short or too much powder? I still have a half of powder, so I will try it again with tandoori chicken next time! I love these ethnic foods!
Hi Naoko
Please do not apologise, I should be the one apologising to you because I have not emailled you for quite awhile now too let alone reply to your previous email. Ive been so busy but I shall reply very soon. Im glad you liked the fried rice flavourings, I think for the curry the reason its bitter is probably the portion ..which one is it? Is it the orange packet?
Yes. I can see ‘KARI A YAM DAN DAGING’ on the package. I put about a half of it into stir-fried chicken and some vegetables, and then put water and simmered. Finally, I poured the coconuts milk. It’s good as..a new Japanese style Malay curry, though!
Ahhhh i can understand now ..okie dokie ill email you soon…
well i’m sure you’ll be fine~~~ Jpanese people have a reputation of being nice and polite~~~ ^-^v
ps but yea culture in the farest aren’t the same as the west…. especially there’s lots of tradition things that ties firmly on to us…
>there’s lots of tradition things that ties firmly on to us…
Ah, I can imagine. I think it would be easy for me. I feel a bid stress or uneasy if I am completely free from these traditional bounds.
I mean, if I can manage these traditional things properly, I could live peacefully in Japan. That is like traffic rules while you are driving. Are you in Japan now?
That’s very sweet.
I think I would not live in a foreign country in the future because my life has almost fixed.
I know the feeling, yes. Moving to Ireland (an English speaking country) and back was quite stressful. Moving to a country with a different language would be harder. Still, I do love Japan, and at least my wife is Japan, so maybe someday…
To go somewhere for the vacation is so nice, but to live there is not really easy.
However, you have learned so deeply about the Japanese mind, so you could be here anytime!
